FIPPI Presidents who have stewarded the organisation

The Federation of Indian Plywood and Panel Industry (FIPPI) was created on 2 November 1961, in Kolkata. This was the result of an expressed need for an industry body that would represent the collective interests of the plywood and wood-based panel manufacturers in India. This decision enjoyed industry, trade and government support. The inauguration was officiated by Manubhai Shah, Minister of Industry (Government of India). The formation covered regional plywood manufacturer associations. The Federation office shifted from Kolkata to Delhi and liaised with the Central government on policies related to transport, development, excise duty, customs tariff, forestry, tree plantation, environment, and forest conservation. The Federation is playing a responsible role in promoting the industry’s interests, strengthening national competitiveness and positioning the sector for larger national and global roles.
